What Happened at the 2026 World Cup?

The group went to script: 1-1 with Morocco, 3-0 over Haiti, 3-0 over Scotland — seven points and first place. The round of 32 brought a 2-1 win over Japan. Then, in the round of 16 in East Rutherford on July 5, came Norway — the nation Brazil had met exactly once before at a World Cup, a 2-1 defeat in Marseille in 1998 — and it finished 2-1 again: Erling Haaland scored in the 79th minute and the 90th, and Neymar's penalty, ten minutes into stoppage time, was the reply.
