Mock schedule builder FAQ
What is a mock schedule?
A mock schedule is a fan-built projection of a league's full season schedule — every matchup placed into a week and broadcast window before the league releases the real one. MockSlate enforces the real scheduling rules while you build.
Why do I project the 2026 standings first?
48 of the 272 games on the 2027 schedule depend on where teams finish in 2026 — two same-place games and the 17th game per team. Projecting all 8 divisions completes the matchup grid so every game can be placed.
What scheduling rules does the builder enforce?
Byes in weeks 5–14 (max 6 per week, none on Thanksgiving), Week 18 division-only, Lions and Cowboys hosting on Thanksgiving, no West Coast team hosting Sunday 1:00 ET, shared-stadium day conflicts, no 4 straight home games, minimum 4 days rest, and a 7-game primetime cap per team.
Is the builder free?
The standings projector and full Week 1 building — including exporting the Week 1 graphic — are free. MockSlate Pro ($12/year) unlocks all 18 weeks, unlimited saved mocks, and the solver tools, across every sport on MockSlate.
