MOCKSLATE

Over the Slate — Official Rules

Rules version: games-over-the-slate-2026.draft-1

Working draft — subject to attorney review. The scoring rubric is published and frozen before entries are accepted.

Entry

  • Pro-only game — leaderboard glory, no prize. Anyone can read this page and watch both boards; entering requires MockSlate Pro. There is no cash award of any kind — which is exactly why a Pro-gated game carries none.
  • Entrants must be 18 or older with a MockSlate account. One entry per person.
  • Entries open with the released 2026 schedule and lock at the 2026 Week 1 kickoff (the entry page counts down to the real kickoff time). Edit or withdraw freely until then; after the lock your slate rides all season.

How to play

  • Pick 10 games — any weeks — you predict will finish among the season’s highest-scoring by Game Score, and rank them 1–10 in the order you think they’ll finish.
  • The season’s Highest-Scoring Games board — the live top 25 by Game Score — is the answer key. It updates weekly as games complete, filling through Week 1, full and churning from Week 2 on.

Scoring

  • +1 for each of your 10 picks that finishes anywhere in the season’s top 25 by Game Score.
  • +3 bonus for each pick that finishes in the actual top 10.
  • +2 bonus for each pick placed at its exact rank within the top 10 (you ranked it 3rd, it finished 3rd).
  • Max score = 60. Weekly standings are provisional — the board churns all season; scoring is final after Week 18.
  • Game Score = combined final points + (combined net yards ÷ 25) + 5 per combined defensive/return TD + 10 if the game goes to overtime. Big totals and wild games score big.

Tiebreak & edge cases

  • Tiebreak: at entry time you predict the Game Score of the season’s #1 game. Tied point totals rank by whoever’s prediction lands closest; still tied, the earlier-submitted entry ranks ahead.
  • A postponed-then-cancelled game simply never posts a Game Score — a pick on it can’t land on the board. (Rare; the risk is part of the call, matching the suite’s postponement stance.)
