MOCKSLATE

Booth Call — Official Rules

Rules version: games-booth-call-2027.draft-1

Working draft — subject to attorney review. The pick structure, no-overlap rule, and scoring below are published before entries are accepted.

Entry

  • Pro-only game — leaderboard glory, no prize. Anyone can read this page, the lists, and the crew tracker; playing requires MockSlate Pro. There is no cash award of any kind.
  • Entrants must be 18 or older with a MockSlate account. One entry per person.
  • Entries open early January 2027, at final standings — the moment the final standings confirm all 272 matchups — and lock at the officially announced schedule-release time. Change either list freely until then; after the lock your calls ride the season.

How to play

  • From the 272 known matchups, pick 18 games for Fox's #1 crew and 18 games for CBS's #1 crew — the games you predict each network’s top broadcast crew will call during the regular season. Crew identities are per-season configuration; the game is about the games, not the names.
  • The no-overlap rule: the two lists must not share a game — a game airs on one network, and knowing the carriage split is the skill. The two crew lists must not overlap — a game airs on one network. Any game appearing on both lists is voided from both.

Scoring & grading

  • +1 for each pick that crew actually calls during the regular season. Maximum 36.
  • Graded week by week as real crew assignments are announced (they firm up shortly before each week). Flexing needs no special handling — you’re graded against the game the crew actually called, wherever it ended up. Assignments are announced weekly and tracked by outlets like 506sports; results here are entered from those announcements.
  • The season leaderboard finalizes after Week 18.
  • Tiebreak: Ties break by total correct calls through the first 9 weeks (rewarding early-season precision), then by the earlier entry. Computed from the graded weeks — nothing is entered at pick time.

Strategy note

Fox traditionally carries NFC road teams and CBS the AFC — but cross-flex moves games between networks, doubleheader weeks change which crew travels, and the A-booth chases the marquee. The “CBS or FOX” explainer is this game’s strategy guide.

MockSlate's prize games are free-to-enter skill contests — no purchase necessary. Pro-exclusive games are prize-free and carry no cash award. Not affiliated with the NFL or any team.
